There is an ironic twist to the public face of options investing. Those investors who take on higher risk and profit fantastically from it are the ones you see in the newspapers. These investors quickly become celebrities because they seem to have an uncanny knack for picking the right stocks and options. But these stories are only the tip of the iceberg.

Just as an iceberg is 80 percent underwater and only 20 percent visible above the sea, so too are the profit records of most options traders.
